Family Foundations Exhibit Opening Announcement @ AADL

Written by Meghana Tummala

On June 9th, the Family Foundations Exhibition will be moving to it’s next location at Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) after it opened at Washtenaw Community College (WCC)!

There will be an opening reception on June 9th, from 3 - 5 pm, to celebrate its opening at AADL, featuring the Family Foundations Book and light refreshments.

This exhibit and book feature the origin stories of four historic Black families from the area, the Jewett and Asher-Aray families from Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township, and the Kersey and Bass families from Ypsilanti. Using photographs, records, and oral histories, the descendants retell the stories of how their families laid the foundation for generations of Black community building to come.

Stay tuned for how the opening reception went and its next location…
